CLIENTThe VHL Alliance seeks to find a Cure for Cancer through advancing research into VHL and its manifestations. The mobile app was developed to help centralize research and resources for patients within the VHL community.
Background
My university posted an article about a national college mobile app competition and immediately I was intrigued. I got interested in software during the iPhone revolution so this competition seemed like the perfect fit.
The problem
The VHL Alliance organization wanted a native mobile app that consolidated all their information for patients suffering with the disease. This included embedding their Patient Handbook pdf, informational videos, and support resources.
What went well
I ended up winning the competition against dozens of teams from different universities across the country. I attribute the win to really focusing on key features that would help patients the most including app wide theming with different color options, large text resizing options, and great accessibility as many patients struggle with their eyesight. I got a lot of positive user feedback which felt extremely rewarding even more so than winning the competition itself.
